Wendy Morris - Housing activist for older people
Wendy Morris’s activism is based on her lived experience of being a renter for many years, across a range of housing types. From private rentals to housing co-ops and residential parks and now in a retirement village, Wendy’s housing journey has finally achieved housing security but with many rocky bumps along the way. Wendy now reaches out to those in power to demand that action be taken to ensure all older people have the right to age-in-place.

See also Western Australia’s 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020–2030 that refers to the Ageing on the Edge Report on page 39 and comments that ‘Older people, particularly older women, are recognised as a priority cohort. Targeted strategies that focus on early intervention rather than crisis responses is required to help older people maintain or access housing appropriate to their individual needs’. An outcome for this aim, such as a housing information service for older people, is yet to be implemented.
